Krish’s Downfall: End of Road or Start of Comeback?

Director Krish has always held a special place in Telugu cinema. Known for his thought-provoking stories and unique approach, his films like Gamyam, Vedam, and Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum are still loved. In 2015, he made Kanche, praised for its rare theme though not a big hit. Later, he directed Gautamiputra Satakarni, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s 100th film, which further built his reputation.

His career took a turn with Manikarnika, where he exited midway, leading to shared credits with Kangana Ranaut. The film became only an average success and marked a setback. Following this, NTR Kathanayakudu and NTR Mahanayakudu disappointed audiences despite strong expectations from Balakrishna’s fans.

Until then, Krish’s movies were never huge blockbusters, but they managed fair returns or only small losses. From this stage, however, he faced continuous failures. Konda Polam flopped, followed by Hari Hara Veera Mallu, which also ended as a disaster. Most blamed AM Jyothi Krishna, but Krish was not spared.

His recent release Ghaati, starring Anushka Shetty, added to the list of flops. Viewers expected his trademark storytelling, but the attempt to blend a Pushpa and KGF-style gangster drama backfired. The ganja smuggling theme did not suit his style, and audiences rejected the film outright.

Still, many believe Krish can make a comeback with his creative spark. Reports suggest he may direct Balakrishna’s big project Aditya 999 Max. Whether he can reclaim his past glory remains to be seen, but Telugu cinema watchers still wait with hope.
