L2 Empuraan Controversy: Mohanlal Deeply Upset?

The controversy surrounding L2: Empuraan has intensified due to its depiction of communal violence.

The film includes scenes of Hindu mobs attacking a Muslim village, a Muslim child being killed, and a pregnant Muslim woman being raped. These moments have sparked outrage, with demands for their removal.

According to reports, during a Facebook Live session, actor Major Ravi revealed that Mohanlal had not watched the full film before its release. He is now deeply upset by the controversy. He reportedly asked the makers to edit out the objectionable scenes.

Meanwhile, scriptwriter Murali Gopy dismissed the issue. He stated that interpretations can vary and refused to comment further.

Political reactions remain mixed. Kerala Congress praised the film for exposing divisive agendas. BJP leaders in Kerala maintained neutrality, leaving it to the audience to decide. However, some BJP supporters argue that the censor board overlooked problematic content.

Producer Gokulam Gopalan acknowledged the backlash. He admitted that around 17 scenes would be cut, with changes made across 4,000 theatres. This process is expected to cost 40 lakhs. He insisted that the film was made for entertainment, not to offend anyone.
