Lokesh Kanagaraj Taking Big Risk with a Flop Director?

Lokesh Kanagaraj has become one of the most influential directors in Indian cinema over the last few years with films like Kaithi and Vikram, which helped him build a massive fan base across India.

Because of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, he gradually gained craze almost equal to star heroes themselves, with many audiences now following his projects mainly because of his name and storytelling style.

At the same time, expectations around Lokesh became extremely high. Because of that, films like Leo and Coolie did not fully satisfy the massive hype surrounding them. They lacked the freshness and emotional impact seen in Kaithi and Vikram.

Despite that backlash, Lokesh continues to remain one of the hottest names in Indian cinema. He is currently preparing for a massive project with Allu Arjun.

Now, in an unexpected move, Lokesh has stepped into acting as a lead hero.

His debut film as a protagonist is titled DC and is directed by Arun Matheswaran, known for films like Saani Kaayidham and Captain Miller which were flops.

The recently released trailer for DC presents Lokesh in a completely unexpected avatar. According to the promo, the film revolves around the love story of a rowdy and a sex worker amid gang wars, violence, emotional conflict, and survival struggles.

One of the biggest reasons the trailer is drawing attention is because of its extremely raw violence. Several action scenes appear disturbing and blood-soaked even by current commercial cinema standards.

At the same time, the trailer looks technically strong and visually impressive. While the basic storyline may sound familiar, the narration style, emotional intensity, and screenplay treatment could help the film stand out. The project is being backed by Sun Pictures, while Anirudh is composing the music and background score.

Although the release date has not yet been officially announced, the trailer has already created some curiosity among audiences eager to see whether Lokesh Kanagaraj can successfully transition from filmmaker to lead actor.
