There is a strange sentiment in the Telugu Film Industry that army roles don’t work for our heroes, here. Back in the day in 1988, megastar Chiranjeevi played an army officer in ‘Yuddha Bhoomi’ and that film didn’t work for him.

At the latest, we know how Allu Arjun’s ‘Naa Peru Surya Naa Illu India’ was a big disaster in which he played an army officer with huge anger management issues. Strangely, army roles worked wonders for North stars and the recent ‘URI, The Surgical Strike’ was a runaway blockbuster.

Now, Mahesh Babu in ‘Sarileru Neekevvaru‘ and Naga Chaitanya in ‘Venky Mama‘ are coming with army roles. Will army roles work for our Telugu heroes contrary to the sentiment that has been prevailing in the industry for long?

The buzz on both the movies is quite positive, and we can clearly see that those army roles aren’t totally serious about the national issues but have an entertainment angle. So, here the army officer role sentiment might be broken. Let’s wait and see.
