Mahesh Babu is gradually expanding his business interests beyond cinema, and his latest move takes him into the gaming industry. The Telugu superstar has joined Mumbai-based interactive entertainment company Shotgun Games as a strategic investor.
The company specialises in developing PC and console games and is currently working on a major action-adventure title called Takedown Genesis. The game is being developed with international gamers in mind, particularly audiences in the US, Europe and the UK. With this project, Shotgun Games aims to establish an Indian presence in the global gaming market.
Mahesh Babu expressed confidence in India’s creative potential, stating that this is the right time for Indian talent to create original characters and stories that can appeal to audiences worldwide. He also believes the country has the potential to produce world-class PC and console games.
Shotgun Games co-founders Vidit Mehta and Jeet Chandan said their goal is to prove that India can develop globally competitive gaming titles.
With gaming, Mahesh is entering a space where Indian companies are still trying to establish themselves globally. His association with Shotgun Games also brings a Telugu superstar into an industry that has largely remained outside the traditional film business.
