Although Trivikram Srinivas’s film is supposed to be next in line, it is not confirmed until goes to sets. Apart from him, Boyapati Sreenu is in the pipeline, and the very latest addition is director VV Vinayak. While none of the directors mentioned here is anything but confirm, there is a strong signal coming from Superstar camp that it might be time to do some mass entertainers.
Usually, that mass space used to be filled by directors who could give semi-mass entertainers. The likes of Gunasekhar, Puri Jagannadh, Surender Reddy, Srinu Vytla, and AR Murugadoss belong to this category. Unfortunately, none are in form or have delivered their worth with Mahesh Babu. Someone like Sukumar could do it, but he is yet to prove his credential in a universal “mass appealing” way. Even his best-performing films were urban heavy.
It is simple, lack of directors that work to the strength of Mahesh Babu is making him look for alternative options. The upcoming young mass directors are certainly no match for the previous generation of directors, and they surely can’t come up with a concept based grand entertainer. With no real choices, the star seems to be looking at experience. We have to see if he goes all the way or changes his mind.
