Malavika’s Horrifying Experience: “Give Me a Kiss?”

Actress Malavika Mohanan recently shared a disturbing incident from her college days that has reignited the conversation around women’s safety in Mumbai.

In an interview with Hauterrfly, she recalled being harassed during a late-night train ride.

Around 9:30 PM, while traveling with two friends, a man walked up to their window and lewdly asked, “Ek chumma degi kya?” (“Will you give me a kiss?”).

Malavika said they were too stunned to react. “We were just three young girls, completely vulnerable,” she said. “People often say Mumbai is safe for women, but I’d like to correct that perception.”

The clip went viral, sparking social media debates.

Mumbai Police responded on X (formerly Twitter), acknowledging her experience. “We understand how unsettling such incidents can be,” they posted. “Non-reporting emboldens the offender… Mumbai has always been safe for women, and we will continue to ensure that safety.”

They also urged citizens to dial 112 or 100 to report such incidents and encouraged Malavika to use her voice to raise awareness.

While Malavika hasn’t publicly replied to the police, her courage in speaking out highlights the silent struggles many women face — even in cities considered ‘safe’.

Professionally, she’s gearing up for major projects like The Raja Saab, Sardar 2, and other promising films.
