The Sankranthi family entertainer Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu turned into a massive hit at the box office. Directed by Anil Ravipudi and starring Megastar Chiranjeevi, the film reportedly collected more than Rs. 300 crores gross worldwide, according to the producers. With this performance, it emerged as a regional industry hit in Tollywood and created a new record as the highest grossing film in Chiranjeevi’s career. The film features Nayanthara as the female lead, and Venkatesh Daggubati makes a special guest appearance.
After its successful theatrical run, the film is now ready to entertain audiences on OTT platforms. Leading digital platform ZEE5 has acquired the OTT rights. The movie will start streaming from February 11, just four weeks after its theatrical release. Another notable aspect is that the film will be available not only in Telugu but also in Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, and Bengali. This makes it accessible to a wider audience across India.
The film’s team strongly believes that Mana Shankara Vara Prasad Garu will receive a solid response on OTT as well. However, there is also a section of viewers who feel that the film might face trolling after its digital release. This is something commonly seen with Anil Ravipudi’s films. His style is usually traditional and rooted in mass and family entertainment, which some OTT audiences may interpret as reinforcing gender stereotypes or containing cringe comedy.
During the theatrical run, a few critics already pointed out these aspects. Anil Ravipudi’s films generally work best in community viewing environments like theatres, where collective laughter enhances the experience. Because of this, some OTT viewers may not feel the same level of excitement while watching the film alone at home.
Now, it remains to be seen what kind of impact the film creates after its OTT release and how streaming audiences respond to it.
