Maruti’s first baby lying unused!

Maruti 800 is one car in India which symbolised middle class aspirations for the longest time. The first Maruti 800 car was owned by Harpal Singh. The historical piece is now lying unused at the family’s Green Park residence after Harpal Singh and his wife Gulshanbeer Kaur passed away two years ago.

Many showed an interest in buying the car built in 1983. The residence is locked since the couple’s death and their daughters are living separately. People wants the car to be restored and stored in a museum.

Maruti company, Derek O’Brien, quizmaster and a senior leader of the All India Trinamool Congress and Autocar India editor Hormazd Sorabjee all evinced their interest in buying the car and get it restored to its glory. Singh’s family, however, said money was not a priority but they want the car to be restored in a museum. Many feel that Maruti is the right choice, it should come forward and take care of its first baby.
