Megastar Returns And Becomes The First, Ahead Of Many Stars

Megastar Chiranjeevi returned to the silver screen after a decade gap with Khaidi No 150. It garnered an average talk but went on to become the highest grosser in Telugu cinema (non-Baahubali).

What Non-Baahubali, at that point also meant was that Megastar became the first star to cross 100 Cr share worldwide before any young stars could do. Later, his son Ram Charan passed it comfortably with Rangasthalam.

Now after two years, Megastar Chiranjeevi’s second film on the comeback, Sye Raa has crossed 100 Cr worldwide. It effectively puts Chiranjeevi ahead of most of the stars in Telugu cinema (barring Prabhas). He has become the only star to have back to back 100 Cr share movies in Telugu.

As we have mentioned previously, it is still not that easy to get to 100 Cr share in Telugu films. It is getting relatively more comfortable now, than it was, say a couple of years ago. But, to still achieve that comfortably suggests the kind stardom that separates Chiranjeevi from the rest.

The next target on the list for Sye Raa is getting to 100 Cr share in Telugu states alone. Except for the Baahuali movies, no other film has been able to achieve this feat. It would be another historical moment as and when that happens. But, it won’t be easy as there is still a lot of ground to be covered.
