Teja Sajja’s Mirai has become a clear success in both the Telugu states and North America. The film has already grossed $2.85 million and needs only $150K more to enter the $3 million club, a rare feat for a Telugu film this year. By the end of Tuesday’s run, it will be short by just about $100K to reach the $3 million mark.
After HanuMan grossed over $5 million in North America, Teja Sajja now enjoys another strong run with Mirai. Adding $100K looks well within reach. Even with Pawan Kalyan’s OG hitting theaters on Wednesday, Mirai has enough space to complete the target.
Crossing $3 million will make Mirai the number one Telugu film in North America this year. It will surpass Venkatesh and Anil Ravipudi’s Sankranthiki Vasthunam at $2.9 million, while Sekhar Kammula’s Kubera stands at $2.4 million and Nani’s Hit 3 sits at $2.1 million. These are the top Telugu grossers in North America this year.
Mirai’s Hindi version grossed only $53K. If Hindi had contributed even moderately, the film would have posted much bigger numbers in North America.
But, there is no doubt the $3 million mark for Mirai is within reach. With a few minimal-pull days at the box office ahead, the film looks set to hit the milestone despite OG’s massive release this week.
