Romance Vs Culture: Mirai Illogical Comparison?

Saiyaara became a superhit for many reasons. It was loved by some, hated by others, but the verdict was clear. It surprised everyone by becoming a major box office success.

Like most hit films, Saiyaara is also being trolled online. But one particular debate has triggered strong reactions from fans.

Some Tollywood fans are comparing Mirai with Saiyaara. They claim Tamil cinema is making powerful films like Mirai supporting Sanatan Dharma, while Bollywood makes “B-grade” films like Saiyaara that promote nudity.

Bollywood supporters quickly defended the film. They argue that comparing a romance with a religious drama makes no sense as the two belong to entirely different genres.

Fans also say such comparisons reflect extremist mindsets that glorify religious films while belittling others. Every industry has produced romantic and religious dramas.

They add that consensual intimacy in films is harmless, unlike non-consensual harassment often shown elsewhere. Both films simply reflect the directors’ vision and should not be judged unfairly.

Critics say if viewers dislike such content, they should simply avoid it instead of shaming others. Cinema has space for all genres and audiences.
