Mixed reviews yet 15 Cr on day 1

Yesterday’s release Ajith’s starrer Vedhalam set Tamil box office on fire. Despite being a routine formula entertainer and mixed reviews the movie emerged as the biggest opener at box office by grossing over 15 cr on day one.

This means Ajith has surpassed previous day one record holders Vijay’s Kaththi and Rajinikanth’s Lingaa in the number game. Murugadoss’s Kaththi had minted 12.5 crore on opening day and Rajini’s Lingaa raked Rs 12.8 crore but Ajith’s latest release has comfortably broken these records.

Kamal’s “Thoongavaanam” too opened with decent talk but despite the competition Ajith’s movie became the biggest opener in Tamilnadu. Now that hard core fans of Ajith managed to watch film already trade is expecting collections to slow down a bit tomorrow. We will have wait and see if it will continue to roar.
