Mohanlal –Disappointment In Telugu

When Malayalam legend Mohanlal agreed to do not one but two films in Telugu, after decades, there was high anticipation and curiosity among Telugu movie lovers. What will the legend do – people were excited. But in the end, one has to say it has been a disappointing journey.

Remember, it is not a criticism of Mohanlal’s acting, it was good as one would expect from him, rather it’s a disappointment on how the Telugu directors used him and the kind of roles they gave him. Manamantha was at least better in the sense that he had a solo reign. Janatha Garage, on the other hand, was a colossal failure in regards to making the best.

Janatha Garage did not have memorable scenes neither did it do anything to improve Jr NTR’s Kerala market. It was a failure on both scores. Now take the case of Pedarayudu, as an example, Rajinikanth had a guest role but the impact is felt even today. It is this impact that has been missing with Mohanlal and TFI has failed him in that regard. In a few weeks from now, he will be out of public memory and that’s the biggest failures of these films more than the commercial aspect.
