Mr Majnu Advances: Below Par

So we finally move out of Sankranthi season releases and look forward to the fresh arrivals. The first biggie to arrive post the holiday period is Mr Majnu starring Akkineni Akhil. It comes in a new combination as well. Venky Atluri of Tholi Prema fame directs the movie.

Actually, everything is correctly set up for Mr Majnu to make a positive impression. We had talked about that here. But, the reality as of now is very different from expectations. The advance bookings for the Akhil starrer are below par all over. It is particularly bad because the release itself is decent and not a big one. With that size, the bookings should be far better.

As of now, all the hopes are on the director to deliver with content and let word of mouth kick in. If it’s positive, an upward turn can be expected in all A centres. That is more due to the genre and its appeal. If the content is more universally appealing, the increase too will reflect that, but, all of this comes into effect with an excellent final product only. In a few hours from now, we will know if that is the case or not.
