Sai Pallavi & Keerthy Suresh’s Loss Mrunal Thakur’s Gain?

Venu Yeldandi, who earned widespread appreciation with Balagam, is currently busy preparing his next project, Yellamma. The script work for the film reportedly finished long ago, and the makers are now moving toward the production stage. The project has already attracted strong curiosity because the team is introducing Devi Sri Prasad as a hero with this film. There’s a lot of curiosity about how DSP will perform such an author-backed role.

At present, the biggest focus for the production team is finalizing the female lead. Initially, the makers approached Sai Pallavi and even narrated the story to her. Reports suggest that Sai Pallavi showed genuine interest in the project and liked the script. However, the collaboration did not materialize for reasons unknown.

After that, the team reportedly turned its attention toward Keerthy Suresh. Sources say the filmmakers held multiple rounds of discussions with her, but she eventually decided not to take up the role. The makers also considered Sreeleela and Bhagyashri Borse during the search process.

Now, strong inside reports indicate that Mrunal Thakur is said to be almost finalized. The heroine’s character reportedly carries significant importance in Yellamma, which is why the team spent considerable time searching for the right actress. The makers wanted someone who possesses both star value and strong acting ability, and insiders believe Mrunal fits those requirements perfectly.

Mrunal Thakur already proved her acting range with films like Sita Ramam, where audiences and critics praised her emotional performance. Her work in Hi Nanna further strengthened her reputation as an actress capable of balancing screen presence, glamour, and performance.

More recently, she also received appreciation for her acting in Dacoit: A Love Story, even though the film itself was pretty insipid.

Because of these factors, the production team has reportedly shown strong interest in bringing her onboard. Sources suggest the makers may arrive at a final decision regarding Mrunal very soon. The team recently released an announcement teaser for the project, and once the heroine is officially finalized, the makers are expected to begin regular shooting immediately.
