Nag Ashwin Reveals List of Heroines to Play ‘Mahanati’

No doubt, Keerthy Suresh gave the best getting into the shoes of the legendary actress Savithri. But before Keerthy Suresh was finalised, the director had several heroines in mind to approach for the role. There was a talk that he first approached Samantha, but she refused the offer as she didn’t want to gain weight for the character.

But, Nag Ashwin refuted the rumour saying that he had her in his mind bus he never offered her Savitri’s role. He approached Sam for Vani’s character only. Even Sam has the clarity that her body structure and facial features don’t match with Savitri and so she made clear that she wouldn’t do the role even if offered.

The young director also had Bollywood heroines Vidya Balan and Sonakshi Sinha in his mind to play the legendary role. However, he didn’t approach them. Besides the Bollywood heroines, Nag Ashwin had several other heroines in mind, as well. They tried to match each and every heroine they thought would be suitable to play the role. Finally, Keerthy Suresh walked away with the crown.
