The Paradise Without a Trailer: Hurting US Pre-Sales!

The Paradise is undoubtedly the biggest film of Nani’s career. With the release just days away, Nani, Srikanth Odela, and the entire team are caught up in a last-minute race to finish the film on time.

The team has held only one press meet so far. During the interaction, Nani made it clear that there would be no trailer. He explained that putting one together would take four days, while the team had more important work to finish on the film itself.

It is clearly a calculated risk from Nani.

The Paradise already has strong hype, and he may not want the entire film to be judged based on a trailer lasting just a few minutes. It could turn out to be a smart decision, but we will know that only after the release.

For now, though, the lack of a trailer seems to be affecting the North America pre-sales.

These days, a trailer plays a major role in helping US audiences decide whether to watch a film on premiere day or wait for the initial talk. That becomes even more important for a large-scale film like The Paradise due to ticket prices.

Initially, the film was expected to open with a bang. A $1 million premiere was seen as a cakewalk, with expectations that it could even reach $1.5 million and beat Ram Charan’s Peddi, the highest premiere of the year.

But the pre-sales are still under $300K. Considering how strong Nani’s market is in North America, the numbers indicate that skipping the trailer may have become a missed opportunity, at least in this region.

At the same time, Nani is unlikely to go back on his word now. Releasing a trailer at this stage could invite even more scrutiny, with every shot being dissected and judged before the film arrives.

Nani is known for being one of the best when it comes to marketing his films.

With only a few days left before the premieres, it will be interesting to see how he pushes the US sales without a trailer.
