Author Shobhaa De has commented on the recent documentary on lady superstar Nayanthara and her views are not exactly positive. While she says the actress is charming and articulate, the documentary does not hold much value.
She said, “Confession : i was not aware of the mega star power of the “Lady Superstar”, Nayanthara, till i watched the promos of “Beyond the Fairytale” on @netflix_in . I tried bravely to watch for 45 minutes, hoping SOMETHING would wake me up from the tedium of wadding through dull clips of talking heads going on about Nayanthara ( born Diana Kurien ) and her incredible life.”
Shobhaa De has also said that this trend of shooting wedding videos of celebrities and streaming them is a dull idea. And many others will follow the lead.
The documentary talks about Nayanthara’s rise to stardom, her early films and the marriage with Vignesh Sivan. It got a huge amount of views on Netflix and is appreciated by fans of the star. But it also gathered some controversies regarding the rift with Dhanush for not allowing a clip from Naanum Rowdy Dhaan.
Shobhaa De seems to be one of the viewers who are condemning the documentary for its lack of entertainment value, and not for any other reasons.
