Coronavirus scare is gripping the entire country. The number of positive cases has gone up to 74 and India had also registered its first-ever death related to the Wuhan virus. States like Kerala, Delhi and the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir have announced the shutdown of the film theaters to prevent community-spreading.

As of now, the shutdown is until the end of this month. More states are expected to follow the same. Some experts say that OTT players like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video will be the biggest winners as it is advised to stay away from crowded places and cinemas.

It looks like the movie releases will also get rescheduled for a while now. People who will be missing the cinema on the big screens would at least love to have them on their hand-held screens. Its time for Internet Service Providers to be on their toes providing extra bandwidth to their customers.

OTT segment in India is slowly on a rise and with this precarious situation, they would get the much-needed push.
