Newly wed commits suicide for WhatsApp!

The advancing technology has its pros and cons but the obsession with these technologies and social media is starting to become a major concern. The news about a young woman committing suicide when she was denied access to a smart phone is certainly one of them.

The young girl, Aparna, was a newly-married 19 year old who was found hanging on the ceiling of her husband’s house in Coimbatore recently. The woman had been married to Saravanakumar about four months ago and had started her obsession with social media less than a month into her marriage.

Apparently, she was constantly chatting with her friends on WhatsApp on a smartphone she got from her brother and was also addicted to facebook. This caused several fights between the two which eventually led to Saravanakumar snatching away her phone and giving her an ordinary one as a replacement. Her body has been taken for post-mortem.
