It was a proud moment for us Indians, when an Indian origin contestant Nina Davuluri won the title of Miss America in a beauty pageant. However it seems like not everybody was happy with this development. Indeed, Nina has had to face a lot of racial slurs coming across her way which included calling her a terrorist in a stinging referral to her brown skin or even not being American enough to win the contest.
The only silver lining is that these adverse circumstances have made Nina an instant hit on the internet. These nasty comments and the entire sorry episode in all probability can actually work in Nina’s favour as evidenced by Shilpa Shetty’s ordeal at the reality show Celebrity Big Brother. And Bollywood may welcome her with open arms considering that she already has the bollywood’s customary dance moves down.
