No More DVD Submissions for Censor

Releasing pirated copies of films which are newly released had become an old trend, the new trend is availability of leaked copies of unreleased films online. Most of these leaked copies are said to be having the water mark of CBFC as the makers had to submit a DVD copy of their film for Censor certification.

Now Censor Board chief Pehlaj Nihalani has taken a decision to ban submission of DVDs for censor board. Instead, the makers have to submit a DCP format copy (digital cinema projection format) for CBFC. This step is taken to put an end to the blame that pirated copies of unreleased copies are having the mark of CBFC.

Nihalani also reasons that one copy of the DVD sent for certification goes to the Film Certificate Appellate Tribunal (Tribunal) and so the blame can’t be taken on them entirely. He is found denying that the leak could have happened from CBFC office. Whatever, this ban on submitting DVDs might help the film makers, hopefully.
