Anirudh Ravichander is one of the very few relevant South Indian music directors who can add value to a film on his own. This had happened with films like Jailer and Devara which were shouldered by his brilliance.
And now Anirudh has two films lining up for release in a span of two weeks and they are Kingdom and Coolie. While the Vijay Deverakonda film is releasing on July 31, the Rajinikanth film is releasing on August 14.
At the fundamental level, both the films happen to be intense action films that come with a strong narrative, so there is not much scope for commercial songs. The one chance that Anirudh could explore commercial space was with the recent Monika song from Coolie, but this is also not on his pedigree.
The crucial thing for Anirudh is going to be to deliver breathtaking experience in theatres. He must absolutely kill it with his musical composition and background score for both the films.
Considering the fact that there was not much to explore in the commercial space, it is the duty of Anirudh to make up for it by coming up with haunting soundtracks.
It is a fact that both these films rely heavily on the background score. In particular, Lokesh Kanagaraj has the habit of working almost entirely surrounding background score, which was already established in the case of Leo and Vikram. He will need Anirudh to pump with all cylinders now.
