No Special Status! What is in store for Metro Projects?

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Sreedharan, the consultant for Vijayawada and Vishakapatnam Metro Projects handed over the Detailed Project Reports (DPR) of both the projects to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu a short while ago in Secretariat. Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu is also present.

The DPR will be sent to the Center after the the state government makes necessary changes if any. Once it is approved, the onus will be on Venkaiah Naidu to allot funds for the completion as his ministry is the sole incharge of Metro projects in the country.

Both the projects are sanctioned to Andhra Pradesh during the state bifurcation with the complete funding of the Central government. The recent union budget has paltry 5.32 Crore each allocations to each of these projects. The finance ministry confirmed that they will make more allocations after the DPRs are submitted.
