Only Regrettable Black Mark for Prabhas!

Prabhas became the biggest pan-India superstar after the phenomenal success of SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali. From being just a regional Tollywood star, he rose to become the biggest star hero of the country.

Prabhas is now coming up with the devotional magnum opus, Adipurush. Despite his last two films not living up to expectations, the advance ticket sales of Adipurush are on fire mode wherever the bookings are opened, and the film is sure to clock Rs. 25-30 crore opening in the Hindi version. These bookings show that Prabhas’ stardom is intact.

Previously also, Saaho collected more than 140 crores in the Hindi version, despite being panned by audiences and critics. It was one of the highest-grossing pan-India films in 2019.

Prabhas’ upcoming films, Salaar & Project K, are also looking to open very big in the Hindi markets. It won’t be surprising if the films open to 100 crores gross only in the Hindi versions.

So the only black mark in Prabhas’ career post-Baahubali has been Radhe Shyam, released last year. The film was not only criticized for being utterly boring and unimaginative but even Prabhas’ potential as a mass hero wasn’t exploited properly. The film opened with sorry figures in the Hindi version. The opening day collection was a mere Rs. 3.5 crores and the film failed to cross 20 crores in its lifetime.

Prabhas should have avoided the fiasco called Radhe Shyam, which dented his image to an extent. Except for Radhe Shyam, all Prabhas’ films post-Baahubali have shown his raw power at the north box office, and the future lineup looks even more promising.
