Padma Awards Continue to Ignore Telugu Industry Legends

The government of India had announced Padma Awards – one of the highest civilian awards of the country on the occasion of the Republic Day. There are 141 awardees this year and both the Telugu States got a raw deal with just Five. Telangana has got three and AP just two.

Interestingly, none of the Telugu Film Industry stars managed to get their name in the list while noted Bollywood names include Karan Johar, Ekta Kapoor, Adnan Sami, and Kangana Ranaut. Senior actors like Kaikala Satyanarayana, Krishnam Raju were waiting to be recognized for a long time but they continue to be ignored.

When compared to the names of Bollywood celebs who got the awards, these legends should have got the awards a long ago. Sirivennela Sita Rama Sastry and SS Rajamouli have got Padma Awards in the last couple of years from the Telugu Film Industry.

These awards are conferred by the President of India at ceremonial functions which are held at Rashtrapati Bhawan usually around March/ April every year.
