Pak Court surprises Bollywood!

India and Pakistan have always been at odds so a petition to permanently ban the release of Indian movies in Pak is not exactly surprising. But, when a petition like that is dismissed by the Pakistani court, it’s surely news. However, a little while back the same court had banned the release of Bollywood movie ‘Phantom’ featuring Saif Ali Khan and Katrina Kaif. The film ‘Phantom’ had been banned after a petition was filed by Hafiz Saeed, the Mumbai attack mastermind and JuD chief.

The petition for ban on all Indian films was filed by Iftikhar Ahmad Thakur, a popular comedian. Ejazul Hasan, the Lahore High Court Justice however dismissed the case stating that the ministry of culture would be the relevant forum for this case.

Ishtiaq Ahmad Chaudhry, Iftikhar’s counsel, make a case stating that it shows Pakistan’s double standards when “on one hand the nation is receiving dead bodies and on the other, the Pakistani authorities are allowing promotion of Indian culture and movies”.
