Panic Button goes unused for 2 years in Hyd!

Hyderabad and Cyberabad Police have launched an app for women’s safety. The app has a panic button which when pressed in distress will alert the nearby police station. However the panic button is unused even two years after the launch.

The police have found these apps prove to be totally useless as not a single victim got a chance to press in the button in emergency situations. The police have gone back to time-tested policing methods like setting up a dedicated phone number and a team to follow up on each complaint.

Interestingly there were some SOS activations which are later proved to be either accidental or from curious new installers. The IT team monitoring the App said there was not a single genuine SOS alert.
