Pawan Kalyan’s Ustaad Bhagat Singh box office result has shifted attention toward his future lineup. As the film met with a disastrous response and almost finished its full run in the first weekend itself, fans have been actively discussing his next projects, including questions about upcoming films, directors, and the much talked about sequel plans.
Over the past few days, several reports claimed that Pawan Kalyan had been holding discussions with multiple directors like Mohan Raja and Deva Katta and was preparing to announce new projects soon.
Putting an end to these rumors, Pawan Kalyan’s personal team issued a clear statement. They confirmed that the actor has not committed to any new films at present. The team stated that all ongoing reports about new projects are baseless and that any official announcement will be made at the appropriate time.
Meanwhile, Ustaad Bhagat Singh has recorded extremely poor collections. The first weekend numbers stand at around Rs.65 crores gross in India, while the worldwide figure is around Rs.85 crores. The film needs more than Rs.200 crores worldwide gross to break even, and from here it is going to be an impossible task to collect another Rs.115 crores gross.
Additionally, the much-discussed sequel OG 2 remains unconfirmed. The team emphasized that any updates regarding this project will be announced directly by Pawan Kalyan himself and advised fans not to believe circulating rumors.
Although there has been talk about a project with Surender Reddy which has been locked, there has been no official confirmation on when the project will start shooting.
However, fans feel there is a need for Pawan Kalyan to retrospect what is going wrong. Most of his films in the last 10 years have seen outright rejection. After the first day, collections are dropping drastically, as neutral audiences have almost stopped patronizing his films because of continuous terrible films.
Pawan Kalyan needs to take time and come up with a sensible project with a good director who understands today’s audience and cinema. He needs a director whose name itself creates hype among not just fans but also cinema lovers. If he is fully into politics, then it is fine. But if he wants to continue doing cinema, he needs to focus and do films with passion and not just for remuneration to run his party.
Acting in cinema cannot be treated as a side business. It is a serious craft, and half baked efforts will only deliver disasters like Hari Hara Veera Mallu and Ustaad Bhagat Singh.
Fans will have to wait for an official update to know what his next cinematic move will be.
