Peddi US Bookings on Hold: What Does This Mean?

The confusion around Peddi is no longer just about one film. It is now affecting the entire Tollywood release calendar.

Originally planned for April 30, the film starring Ram Charan and directed by Buchi Babu Sana is now widely expected to be postponed. The reason is simple. Some patchwork and a special song are still pending, and time is running out.

A major hint came from overseas. US advance bookings, which were supposed to open today, have reportedly been put on hold. That is usually a strong indicator that the release date is not locked. This has increased doubts among both fans and trade circles.

Because of this uncertainty, other filmmakers are also hesitating to finalize their own release dates for the summer. Everyone is waiting for clarity on Peddi before making their move.

The film itself carries big expectations. It stars Janhvi Kapoor and has music by A. R. Rahman, with a massive scale rural sports backdrop. So timing is very important for its success.

Meanwhile, Lenin, starring Akhil Akkineni and directed by Murali Kishor Abburu, has locked June 26 as its release date. Interestingly, it had already postponed once, from May 1, to avoid clashing with Peddi.

Now, if Peddi shifts to June 25 as expected, both films could clash. Despite this risk, producers Annapurna Studios and Sithara Entertainments have decided not to move Lenin this time.

Many in the trade feel that is the right call. Adjusting once out of respect is understandable, but it cannot become a habit. Smaller films cannot keep sacrificing prime release dates just because a big star project is uncertain.

Yes, a clash with Peddi could affect Lenin. But if the film has strong content, it can still attract audiences. We have already seen during festive seasons like Sankranti that multiple good films can perform well simultaneously.

With the summer already going to waste with no big releases, and films like Ustaad Bhagat Singh turning into box office disasters, the industry cannot afford further delays. At some point, other films have to move ahead instead of waiting endlessly for Peddi to finalize its plans.

However, fans feel that the Lenin makers may be confirming the June 26 date for now. If Peddi really finalizes June 25, then Lenin may still have to postpone again.
