Piracy Hits Jackpot in Indo-Pak War of Banning Films

India and Pakistan are at loggerheads with each other and are trying to prove their military power against each other. In the midst of this battle, there is one more parallel war going on between India and Pakistan which isn’t concerned with our military, politics or even security of the two countries.

It’s the war of banning films between India and Pakistan. While IMPPA (Indian Motion Picture Producers Association) banned Pakistan artists from working in Indian films, PEMRA of Pakistan banned the screening of Bollywood films in theaters and on television channels as well.

So, who is benefiting from these back to back bans? It’s the pirates. While Pakistan happens to be the third largest market for Indian films, 50 – 60% of the television content for Pakistan comes from Bollywood and India. Theaters in Pakistan would suffer a lot if they don’t screen Bollywood movies. At the end of this game, it’s the pirates who are going to feast on this troublesome situation.
