Prabhas’ films seem to be under continuous scrutiny in Bollywood. Last year, Adipurush faced heavy criticism for distorting the Ramayana. Then, Salaar came under fire for allegedly engaging in some malpractices to boost its collections, especially when it clashed with Dunki.
Now, it’s Kalki 2898 AD’s turn. Recently, some Hindi trade people accused the Kalki makers of inflating box office numbers.
The filmmakers have now received legal notice for allegedly hurting Hindu sentiments. Kalki 2898 AD is caught in a legal controversy.
BJP sympathizer Acharya Pramod Krishnan, of Kalki Dham Peethadheeshwar, sent a legal notice to the filmmakers and actors, accusing them of distorting religious texts and disrespecting Hindu deities. The legal notice is served by Supreme Court advocate Ujjawal Anand Sharma on behalf of Acharya Krishnan.
The notice claims the movie’s portrayal of Lord Kalki is not only inaccurate but also disrespectful to sacred texts central to millions of believers. It warns that such depictions could lead to confusion among Hindus and damage their faith.
Acharya Krishnam, speaking to PTI, emphasized that distorting Hindu texts is unacceptable, highlighting the significance of Lord Kalki in Hindu belief.
He mentioned that Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently laid the foundation stone for the Shri Kalki Dham temple in Uttar Pradesh, where Lord Kalki is prophesied to be born. Acharya stressed that the movie sends a wrong message to the people.
Advocate Sharma supported these concerns, alleging the filmmakers had hidden motives and borrowed scenes from the Mahabharat to claim authenticity.
He cited the depiction of Lord Kalki’s birth through artificial insemination as an example of misleading content.
Despite the controversy, Kalki 2898 AD continues to perform well at the box office, especially in Hindi. However, its future distribution on OTT platforms and other media is uncertain as the legal dispute continues.
