On a disappointing note, Rebel Star Prabhas wouldn’t be attending the Japan premiere of his recent blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD due to an ankle injury.
In an official statement, Prabhas said that he sprained his ankle during a shoot but did not specify which one. Currently, he is working on two films, The Raja Saab and Fauji.
Kalki’s Japan premiere was scheduled to be held on December 18. It is slated for a nationwide release in Japan on January 3, 2025, on the occasion of Shogatsu (Japanese New Year).
Kalki’s team took to social media to announce the news. A Japanese press note was released from Prabhas, which read, “Thank you for always giving a lot of love to me and my work. I had been looking forward to going to Japan for a long time.”
“However, I am deeply sorry to say that I sprained my ankle during filming and was unable to attend. The distribution company has provided tremendous support, and I am grateful for their efforts as we approach the release of Kalki 2898-AD on January 3rd (Friday). I hope to meet you soon – Prabhas,” the note further read.
With Prabhas unable to attend the screening, director Nag Ashwin will grace the premiere with his presence.
Featuring Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan and Kamal Haasan in pivotal roles, Kalki is one of the biggest hits in Indian cinema. It is now aiming to create a similar box-office storm in Japan.
