Prashanth Neel’s Gutsy Decision Goes Right!

Director Prashanth Neel’s Salaar appears to be a fusion of his previous works, Ugramm and KGF, tailored to complement Prabhas’ distinctive style.

The childhood segment in Salaar seems reminiscent of Ugramm, with the protagonist’s unwavering commitment to a friend. The hero, based in a remote village, echoes Ugramm’s setting, and when the heroine arrives from America, a threat to her life ensues, leading to the hero’s heroic intervention.

Drawing parallels to Ugramm, the director replicates several scenes in Salaar, including the protagonist giving shelter to the heroine with her mother’s approval.

Notably, the director introduces a modern twist by establishing an empire named Khansar in Salaar, replacing the underworld theme from Ugramm to align with contemporary trends.

Additionally, Prabhas playfully incorporates a shot from Ugramm, where Sri Murali’s character tightens his right hand in frustration, as a teasing homage in Salaar.

It is very gutsy of a director who has directed only two films (Ugramm and KGF) to choose to remake his own film which was just a decent success in Kannada on such a big scale.

While some are accusing him of lacking in creativity, it cannot be denied that if a story has untapped potential the director would want to attempt it once again to realize its complete potential.

Despite mixed reviews from critics, the audience clearly seems to have fallen in love with what Prashanth Neel has made in the name of Salaar. The outstanding box office collections are proof that the film has struck a chord with the audience and there is already tremendous hype for Salaar: Shouryanga Parvam.
