North America distributor Prathyangira Cinemas, which is releasing two big-star films around the same time, has been accused of being biased toward Ram Charan’s Telugu film Peddi and not giving a proper release to the highly popular Drishyam 3.
The accusation is that Drishyam 3 has around 15% occupancy, while Peddi has only about 5%, yet Peddi is getting a much wider release.

#Drishyam3 and #Peddi have the same distributor.
Drishyam 3 premieres opened with only 88 shows and have already sold 1,776 tickets, with around 15% occupancy so far.
Meanwhile, Peddi opened with 1,136 premiere shows but sold only 7,399 tickets, with an average occupancy of just 5%.
When occupancy is clearly better for Drishyam 3, why isn’t the distributor @PrathyangiraUS giving it a wider premiere release?
Prathyangira Cinemas replied:
#Drishyam3 premiere start time provided by the production is 10:30 PM EST / 9:30 PM CST, which is very late and outside feasible operating hours for most theatres in EST. In CST, only one show is possible in most locations.
Still, we are doing our best to secure as many premiere shows as possible.
More shows and locations will open up this week.
