The longest film opens to high trade beating BB

Earlier this year, Bollywood Superstar Salman Khan’s ‘Bhajrangi Bhaijaan’ set box office on fire but the first day collections of the movie (Rs. 27.25 crores) were no where near the highest opener ‘Happy New Year’. This time Salman’s recent Diwali release ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ fared comparatively far high than Bhajrangi.

The first day collections of the movie are Rs.40.35 crores. Only a couple of crores behind Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Happy New Year’ which had recorded highest openings, Rs. 42.62 crores for any Bollywood movie till date. Bhajrangi Bhaijaan dashed ahead with positive reviews and positive talk to record collections later.

With mixed reviews, one has to wait for the weekend figures to decide the range of ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ in the coming days. Good word of mouth can work wonders. Being a family entertainer, family audiences might throng to theatres which is an added benefactor for Salman-Rajashri Productions movie.
