Pressure & Opportunity For Boyapati!

The unprecedented success of Jailer and now Jawan proves that the audience is ready to accept well-made commercial films even if they aren’t very novel in their concept or execution.

Boyapati Sreenu has made a brand out of himself for making oora mass masala films like Simha, Legend, Sarainodu, and Akhanda, which people have loved over the years. But he has also gone horribly wrong when he couldn’t execute his ideas well, like in the case of Vinaya Vidheya Rama and Jaya Janaki Nayaka.

Now, he is coming up with Skanda with Ram Pothineni, releasing on September 28. Its trailer, which has crossed 50 million views, has received a mixed response from the audience. While the mass and action elements look solid, the melodrama part is being trolled by some as cringe.

The success of Jailer and Jawan should give a boost to Boyapati’s confidence that proper commercial entertainers are being lapped up by the audience in a big way. But there’s also a pressure to match the impact of those films, which will be fresh in the audience’s mind while watching Skanda.
