Puri Clarifies ANOTA Rumors on Liger

The trailer of Vijay Deverakonda’s Liger, directed by Puri Jagannadh, was out recently, and it clocked more than 50 Million views in 24 hours. The response to the trailer was mixed, but the number of views shows that the hype is real.

One thing that was noticed by many on social media was that the film has an uncanny resemblance to Puri Jagan’s own 2003 hit film, Amma Nanna O Tamil Ammayi (ANOTA). That film had Ravi Teja staying with a single mom Jayasudha just like VD and Ramya Krishna in Liger. That film was also based on boxing. Just like Jayasudha, Ramya Krishna is also going overboard in her performance. So it is being said that Liger is just an updated version of ANOTA.

Puri Jagan, in his latest interview, clarified that Liger is a completely new film, and he didn’t pick up anything from his previous movies. He said that Liger is a Pakka commercial action drama with a good love story in the backdrop of MMA.

The latest update is that Star Group has acquired the satellite and digital streaming rights of Liger for a whopping amount. Hottie Ananya Panday plays the female lead in Liger, produced by Karan Johar and Charmme Kaur.

Liger is all set to release on 25th August.
