PVR’s Service Sparks Anger: Cinema Experience Ruined

PVR’s service has recently come under criticism from moviegoers, with many expressing anger over how the cinema experience is being affected. While theatres aim to offer more than just film viewing, audiences feel that the core purpose of watching a movie is being compromised.

On social media, users have highlighted that PVR Cinemas’ food delivery service, originally designed for convenience, is now causing inconvenience. What was intended as a helpful feature is being described as disruptive and at times even rude by several viewers.

PVR provides an option where viewers can order food and have it delivered directly to their seats during the film. The idea was to minimise interruptions so that audiences could enjoy snacks without leaving their seats or missing important moments on screen.

However, what initially seemed like a useful addition is now facing criticism. Many viewers feel that the service interferes with the viewing experience, especially when it is not executed smoothly in a quiet theatre environment.

Users on social media have described the seat delivery system as distracting. During key or emotional scenes, staff members are said to call out seat numbers loudly to locate the correct audience member, which disturbs the overall atmosphere inside the theatre.

In some cases, when seats are located in the middle of a row, staff members request other viewers to pass along the food. This process ends up disturbing multiple people, creating inconvenience not only for the person who ordered but also for those seated nearby.

Frustrated viewers argue that personal convenience should not come at the cost of others’ experience. The expectation is that a theatre visit should remain immersive, and activities like food delivery should not interrupt the collective viewing environment.

Many have also pointed out that intermissions exist for a reason. Intervals allow audiences to purchase food, stretch, or use facilities without missing content. Some suggest that theatres should extend interval duration or improve counter services instead of relying on in screening deliveries.

As theatres attempt to adapt to changing viewing habits and compete with OTT platforms, revenue generation remains a priority. However, audiences believe that the primary focus should still remain on delivering a seamless movie watching experience, with all additional services supporting rather than disrupting it.
