Prabhas starrer Kalki 2898 AD directed by Nag Ashwin features an ensemble star cast including Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwatthama. The team released a teaser of his look and character.
The teaser spotlights a conversation between a curious child and Amitabh Bachchan, set against the backdrop of a cave where Amitabh is adorned in yellow attire, engaged in prayer before a Shiva Linga.
Feedback from the Telugu audience indicates that the teaser effectively introduces Bachchan’s character, though some had hoped for a glimpse of both Prabhas and Bachchan together, which was absent.
Also, Telugu audiences have seen some films in a similar genre in the past, so their excitement seemed limited.
On the contrary, the response from the North audience is quite encouraging. To begin with, they didn’t have much expectations from Kalki as Nag Ashwin isn’t a famous director for them.
The very first look of Prabhas had backfired immensely last year. So it was concluded that Kalki would be a disaster.
But this Amitabh Bachchan’s character teaser has given them hope that Nag Ashwin has really cooked something. The glimpse of a younger Bachchan also has impressed them big time. The religious angle is another USP for the Hindi audience as it is believed that Ashwatthama still walks the grounds of Narmada Ghat.
Let’s hope Amitabh’s character in Kalki 2898 AD turns out to be better than the one in Sye Raa which was hyped a lot but made zero impact in the film.
Overall, this teaser has made a positive impact and the makers need to build hype from this and take it to the next level with the upcoming promotional assets.
