Rajamouli Gave Me the Freedom to Expand

We already had the update that Arka Media works are joining hands with Netflix to extend the Baahubali series. Writer Neelakantan wrote the prequel to ‘Baahubali, The Beginning’ with the title ‘The Rise of Shivagami’ and this part will be filmed as a nine-episode series, that means 40-hour series.

Neelakantan who is also working on the sequels for ‘Baahubali‘ to make it a trilogy says that Rajamouli had given him the freedom to expand ‘Baahubali’ story in any way the writer saw it appropriate. That’s why the writer says that there is a multitude of kingdoms and characters to explore in the coming ‘Baahubali, Before the Beginning’ series.

This story is set 30 years before Baahubali was born and the rise of Shivagami from a rebel to a queen and also how the Mahishmati City transformed into the Mahishmati Kingdom. So, the writer is reshaping the mythology drawing a lot of inspiration from the existing mythology, folk tales etc.
