For the unversed, China is a super lucrative market. Aamir Khan’s Dangal made close to Rs 1400 crores in China, which is double that of its collections in India and overseas. However, Rajamouli‘s Baahubali 2, which was also released in China did not have the best of runs. Reportedly, it closed its theatrical run in China after collecting around Rs 80 crores($12 million).
But with RRR, Rajamouli has a golden chance of creating a box office monster in China. Charan had revealed that team RRR is planning a couple of promotional events in Japan. If they promote the film in China as well, and if the film strikes a chord with the Chinese audience, then RRR’s worldwide collections could witness a monstrous surge.
That said, not all Indian films enjoy such stellar box office runs in China. Everything depends on how the Chinese audience receive the film.
One thing that is to be noted is that RRR has evidently caught the attention of the western folk as well. Several western film critics and common audience alike tweeted about RRR following its theatrical release. This might be an indication that RRR has what it takes to cater to international audience. But can the Ram Charan and Jr NTR starrer actually make it big in this market and gross big bucks?

There were decent expectations for Epic. At the very least, audiences expected a passable one-time…
