After Coolie, Rajinikanth is now shooting for the highly awaited sequel Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. Reports suggest that nearly 70% of the filming has already been completed, setting the stage for one of next year’s biggest Tamil releases.
During the shoot, Nelson reportedly narrated a new script to Rajinikanth, and the superstar has given it his approval. If true, this means the duo will likely reunite once again after Jailer 2.
Fans on social media are divided over the news. Some are celebrating the idea, confident that Nelson knows how to tap into Rajinikanth’s full potential. They point to Jailer as proof that Nelson showcased the actor in a fresh and powerful avatar.
Others, however, remain sceptical. They argue that such rumours usually surface before a film’s release to build hype. According to them, this talk of another collaboration is just a promotional strategy meant to create buzz around Jailer 2.
Many believe that if Jailer 2 underperforms, this supposed next project will quietly disappear. They recall how before Coolie released, Lokesh Kanagaraj had hinted at another film with Rajinikanth. But after Coolie turned into a troll fest, there has been no follow-up or official confirmation.
Some fans also warn Rajinikanth against repeating past mistakes. They remind that his back-to-back films with Pa Ranjith, Kabali and Kaala, ended as box-office disappointments. They suggest he should carefully evaluate Nelson’s new script before committing again.
