Ram Irritated: Don’t Put AKT in Negative Slot

Ram Pothineni’s latest release, Andhra King Taluka hit theaters last week. While the film received appreciation from some quarters, the box office performance has been on the opposite side.

Ram and Bhagyashri Borse toured the U.S. to promote the film heavily during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, and so far the movie has grossed $459K in North America.

After Ram returned to Hyderabad, the team organized a media interaction, thanked everyone for the appreciation and expressed hope that the film would find its footing in the second week. During the media Q&A session, Ram appeared visibly irritated when a reporter asked Mythri producer Ravi Shankar about movies like Ante Sundaraniki, Dear Comrade and Andhra King Taluka failing at the box office.

Ram immediately intervened and, in a visibly irritated tone said not to put Andhra King Taluka in the negative slot yet. He added that only the first weekend is over and it is not right to speak negatively about the film already.

He further mentioned that if the film does not perform well in the second week, they could have this conversation at the next press meet.

This week, Andhra King Taluka will face the release of Akhanda 2. Still, the producers and Ram remain hopeful that their film will find its audience, as it belongs to a different genre.
