Hyd turning cine hub for Intl. film lovers

Hyderabad is often considered a hub for film lovers and the number of film numbers would soon increase even more as Ravindra Bharathi once again opens its doors and starts screening films in October. For two decades, the building has been silent but come October, it’s all about to change. The auditorium is all set to revive its mini hall to start screening films every week beginning with the Batukamma festival.

The films would be international in nature and will be screened every Sunday at 4 pm on the second floor of mini hall. This includes German films, Japanese films, short films and award winning films which would all be available for public viewing and would then be followed by hearty discussions to guide the wannabe filmmakers.

For this to happen, the department of culture is in talks with Alliance Francaise, Iranian embassy and others in order to gain authorization to conduct international film weeks while the film ‘Ankur’ directed by Sham Benegal would be the first movie to be screened in the newly revived Ravindra Bharathi auditorium.
