Rumour forced Bangle shortage in 3 districts!

Thousands of women in three districts of North Telangana including Warangal went on a Bangle buying spree this Ugadi forcing an cute shortage of bangles in the region. This was triggered by a rumour that married women should wear bangles of nine different colours to protect their sons and husbands from an impending bad omen.

The rumour reportedly sprang after a local deity, reportedly, conveyed the message through an oracle and very soon the rumour spread in Warangal and neighbouring districts. Women across religions and castes including tribals rushed to bangle stores in towns.

It is said that the local bangle sellers have sold out all their bangles, including the old stocks that had been lying in godowns for the last five years. The mad rush is so much that the police had to intervene at several places to take situation under control.
