Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for the release of his third film this year, “Dunki,” following the success of “Pathaan” and “Jawan.”
The film is expected to perform well at the box office, but it faces tough competition from Prabhas’ highly anticipated actioner, “Salaar.” The advance bookings for both movies in overseas markets have already begun, with “Salaar” surpassing “Dunki” in pre-sales.
In the USA, “Salaar” has secured $750k in advance bookings compared to “Dunki’s” $185k. Similarly, in the UK, Australia/New Zealand, and the Gulf region, “Salaar (Telugu)” has outperformed “Dunki” in pre-sales. But as the release date approaches Dunki sales might improve a lot.
Surprisingly, the trailers of both films received an underwhelming response. But it is also true that director Raj Kumar Hirani never shows much in his trailers and all the trailers of his previous movies were just about decent.
Whereas Prashanth Neel is known for cutting mindblowing teasers and trailers as he did with the KGF series. But this time, the trailer of Salar didn’t turn out to be that exciting.
The music of “Dunki” has received positive feedback, while “Salaar” has only released one song, which has garnered a decent response.
In North India, the tentative showcasing plan favors “Dunki” in multiplexes, with a 46 percent share, followed by “Salaar” at 30 percent.
In Telugu states, “Salaar” is expected to dominate screens, leaving “Dunki” with approximately 25-30 percent of the share. The final showcasing schedule will be decided by Wednesday night.
The full-fledged advance bookings for Dunki in India will open on December 16. Salaar makers have applied for ticket hikes in the Telugu states. Once that issue is sorted out, the bookings will start in India.
