Samantha Pushes Hotstar Into Dilemma

Naga Chaitanya and Samantha have announced their separation earlier this week. The actress has been away from media glare and wants to keep it that way for a few months. But then, this decision has left leading OTT Platform, Disney+ Hotstar worried.

Buzz has it that Disney+ Hotstar bagged the Direct-to-OTT rights of Samantha’s next Tamil film, Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal. The movie stars Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara also with Samantha. Usually, Nayanthara never promotes her film. Hotstar, however, wants to aggressively promote the film.

If Samantha chooses to stay away from media, it will leave Disney+ Hotstar only with Vijay Sethupathi. A busy star like Vijay Sethupathi will definitely not accommodate so much of time for the promotions. So, the marketing team of the OTT giant is worried.

Initially, Samantha was also interested to promote the film aggressively because she wants to change the impression of Tamil people on her (due to The Familyman 2 controversy).

But the divorce has changed everything. Vignesh Shivan has directed Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal. Rumors are that Samantha and Nayanthara will be seen as sisters in the movie.
