Sankranthi Season is done and dusted. HanuMan will carry out its run until the Republic Day weekend. Nagarjuna’s Naa Saami Ranga will continue to add some pennies but that will be limited. It is more or less over for Gunturkaaram and Saindhav. It is interesting to note how the season ended for all the four directors.
Trivikram is the biggest loser this Sankranthi. He is suddenly at a crisis now which looks far more serious than Agnyathavaasi. Gunturkaaram failure is more about Trivikram’s failures written all over. With Mahesh giving his best in the film, the scale is tilted further towards the director.
Trivikram released Aravindha Sametha the same year as Agnyathavaasi. But the problem now is that Allu Arjun’s project will take a lot of time. The problems will only compound for Trivikram with the delay.
Prashant Varma is the biggest gainer this season. Suddenly, his PVCU looks a serious prospect and the way he used the devotional quotient intelligently makes his ‘Jai HanuMan’ a good prospect in the Pan-India market.
Sailesh Koneru who came this Sankranthi with Saindhav has disappointed too. He will now have to prove himself once again by delivering another hit. Or else, Nani, Vishwak Sen, and Adivi Sesh will take away the credit of HIT and HIT 2 successes. But then, he can not be written off but only challenge is to convince a hero from here and then deliver a hit.
Vijay Binni made his debut with Nagarjuna’s Naa Saami Ranga. Despite being an average product, the movie was a decent fare at the box office. But then, it is doubtful if the film will do wonders to Vijay’s career. The second film is likely to be a struggle or a compromise.
